Azienda Nicola Di Sipio is located in Abruzzo, Italy, between the mountain peaks of the Maiella and the Adriatic Sea, 300 metres above sea level, in a small town near Chieti called Ripa Teatina which is famous for its wines, food and boxer Rocky Marciano. The winery stands on a 70 hectare estate along with the vineyards, olive groves and wheat fields watered by a nearby natural lake. Devotion, love and tenacity are the basis for the cultivation of the following vineyards: Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino, Falanghina, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay.
On the palate, this Riserva delivers concentrated flavours of ripe dark fruit, leather and savoury earth undertones, supported by refined tannins and balanced acidity. The long, layered finish reveals subtle notes of licorice and tobacco that speak to its aging potential. A perfect match for hearty Italian fare, grilled meats, aged cheeses, and robust pasta dishes.
2022 Di Sipio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a classic expression of Montepulciano, showing the approachable yet vibrant character this varietal displays in Abruzzo’s warm, coastal climate. It features inviting aromas of ripe red cherry, raspberry and plum with subtle hints of Mediterranean herbs. Smooth and generous on the palate, this wine offers juicy red and black fruit flavors, framed by soft tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is fresh with touches of spice and earth, making it an excellent wine for everyday enjoyment or pairing with pizza, grilled vegetables, tomato-based pastas, and rustic Italian cuisine.
On the palate, this wine is medium-bodied with lush fruit framed by smooth tannins, lively acidity and a lingering finish. Notes of blackberry compote, dried herbs and subtle chocolate emerge as the wine opens, making this a superb choice with grilled meats, roasted game, aged cheeses and hearty Italian classics.
On the nose there are notes of white peach, exotic fruit, cardamom, ginger and nuances of spice that blend with the aromas of bread. Bright cherry in colour. On the nose there is a fresh bouquet of currants and strawberries, delicately spiced with slight cream undertones. This is a fragrant, harmonious Montepulciano rose on the palate that is ideal for spicy cuisine or a wagyu steak. Soft, elegant but with structure and complexity of lighter red.
The deep crimson red takes on a slight garnet edge after many years of cellaring. A stunner of a Montepulciano. Bramble, spiced plums and black currants with complex notes of cedar, cigar box and umami. Over the years, complex aromas of leather, tar and undergrowth have emerged. Full-bodied with pulpy texture and extraordinary concentration.
Bright straw yellow in color. The nose is full of a bouquet that shows rose hip and tropical fruit as well as Mediterranean and balsamic herbs. On the palate, the wine is full of balance between power and softness. Enveloping and elegant finish supported by its body and floral minerality. Excellent freshness with marked acid backbone, this Pecorino also lends itself well to aging in the bottle.
Deep gold that turns amber to an intense and brilliant orange hue. Layers of candied citrus fruits, dried apricot, orange and hazelnut marmalade with complex toasted and vanilla notes that transform over the years into dried berries, currants, leather and cedar wood. Dense, juicy and chalky with an enchanting balance between the concentration of the sweet fruit, the acidity and the very fine tannin which leads to an interminable saline finish.
Deep, dark and dense red in color. The nose is full of ripe red fruit, spices and preserves. The palate is intense, robust, with a long persistent finish. Each sip highlights the silky tannins present and masterfully integrated into the structure of this wine designed to be long-lived. Drinks beautifully right now.
Intense ruby with hints of scarlet. On the nose there is an energy that shows brilliant notes of cherry and licorice, red and dark berries and fine spices that adds to the palate's structure. Not overly extracted despite a long maceration, which allows the aromas to accompany the long length and complexity.
On the palate, crisp acidity and mineral zest drive layers of lemon peel, green apple and ripe pear, with a lingering finish that highlights the grape’s characteristic salinity and elegance. This Pecorino is a refreshing, food-friendly white perfect with seafood, light pasta dishes, summer salads and soft cheeses.
