Champagne Gaston Chiquet is a historic grower-producer based in the village of Dizy in the Vallée de la Marne, renowned for crafting elegant, terroir-expressive Champagnes from estate-grown Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. The Chiquet family’s roots in Champagne date back to 1746, when Nicolas Chiquet planted his first vines. But it was in 1919 that two brothers, Fernand and Gaston Chiquet, revolutionized the region by becoming the first growers to vinify and bottle their own Champagne, breaking away from the traditional model of selling grapes to the grandes maisons.

Today, the 8th generation, Nicolas Chiquet, continues the family legacy, farming 23 hectares of vineyards across the prestigious villages of Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. All the fruit used, even in the non-vintage blends, is Premier or Grand Cru quality—a rarity in Champagne and a mark of the house’s commitment to excellence.

The vineyards are planted to an equal mix of Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Meunier (40%), and Pinot Noir (20%), reflecting the diversity and balance in the Chiquet style. Nicolas avoids oak aging, preferring instead to let the natural ripeness, purity of fruit, and malolactic fermentation deliver richness and texture in the wines.

Gaston Chiquet is particularly celebrated for producing the only Blanc de Blancs from the Grand Cru village of Aÿ, a site traditionally known for Pinot Noir. These Chardonnay vines, planted in the 1930s, express a unique minerality and depth that set them apart in the region. The wines consistently show finesse, precision, and a deep sense of place.

Champagne Gaston Chiquet is a Grower Champagne in the truest sense—family-run, independently made, and driven by a deep respect for terroir. Their wines offer both exceptional quality and authenticity, appealing to connoisseurs, sommeliers, and lovers of Champagne with soul.
