VERDAD & LINDQUIST
Central Coast, California, USA
“I started Verdad Wine Cellars in 2000. My goal has always been to make pure, balanced wines from the great vineyards of the Central Coast of California. My focus is on the cool, coastal vineyard sites of California’s Central Coast. I also love and am inspired by the wines of Spain. Living in California with it’s Spanish/Mexican heritage was my inspiration to make wine from Spanish wine grapes. In 2014, I started to work with Cabernet Sauvignon after a client requested a Cabernet Sauvignon based wine. That led me to try my hand at making Cabernet for Verdad, as it’s an incredible grape and its wines are some of the most age-worthy wines of the world. In addition up the road from the coast and inland I source Cabernet from Paso Robles. The vineyards offer steep hillsides and limestone and marine fossil rich soils that able to grow stellar Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot along with many other varieties. Los Alamos Canyon (Martian Vineyard) and Santa Ynez Valley (Ibarra-Young Vineyard) are exceptional AVA’s that combine both coastal and continental influences.” - Louisa Sawyer Lindquist

The 2020 GSM is very much Grenache driven with that juicy, red fruit core. This supplemented nicely with the spiciness and earthiness from the Syrah and Mourvedre. The wine is vibrant with great elegant fruit and integrated flavours. A perfect wine for both barbecue and cream pastas! V 92
This is classic cool climate Grenache, with that beautiful cherry red colour and wild cherry aromas as well. It also has nice, cool climate spice notes. It is deliciously ready to drink now, but will certainly continue to develop and show even more complexity in the years to come. V 91
This wine shows classic Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay characteristics…pears and apples, along with hints of citrus and minerals, this all nicely cloaked with sweet French oak. The flavours are straightforward and very approachable. Drink this over the next three to five years. V 92
This is a wine for drinking…delicious, juicy, full of fruit, with that wonderful aromatic of ripe Viognier…honey, peaches, lychee and jasmine! It’s bottled with a screw cap for easy access. Sexy, with the Viognier on the nose and the vibrant acidity from the beautifully crafted Chardonnay on the finish. V 91
The 2019 Marsanne Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard sports a light gold hue as well as pretty notes of ripe lemons, chamomile, honeyed flowers, and hints of bitter almonds. Medium-bodied, pure, balanced, and elegant on the palate, it's a classy, elegant, impeccably made Marsanne to enjoy over the coming 4-6 years.
This Viognier is absolutely gorgeous. Bright, perfumed and light on its feet, the 2020 is an exquisite wine. There is plenty of varietal character, but this is a Viognier that emphasizes freshness and vivacity. This is such a pretty wine. V 92

This bottling takes a bit of time to emerge on the nose, but once it does, it doesn't stop for days. Aromas of purple flowers, dark fruit and charred beef lead into a palate of roasted blackberry, charred black plum and cracked pepper. The tannins are firm but polished, ensuring a long life. Drink from 2022 to 2043. WE 94
